We all want to help the Earth that we live on. Many reports have showed that from years of not taking care of it, the things we are seeing across the globe is due in part to not taking care of it like we should. With that being said, we have found that there are things you can do starting now that can make a difference in saving the world. Even a small kid can help and it’s our job to start teaching this so that maybe the world can be around a bit longer so that future generations can live and enjoy the world which was created for us to live in. With all that being said, here are some things you can do.

Tips on How to be Eco Friendly

One of the first things you can do is get rid of the plastic sacks they package your goods in when you go to the grocery store. Get some canvas bags and you can do your part that way. Half of us just through those bags away and those things can’t be recycled.

To help eliminate how much things are being made, have you tried buying used? Some of you are skeptical of buying used, but not only are you being eco friendly, but you are being conservative as well. When you buy used, that means something isn’t being created in a factory, but you are helping the individual who is selling it. You can also try borrowing or even sharing things among friends.

Try eliminating the paper you use at home. Many of you might not realize how much paper you use. For instance, paper napkins cost a lot and cloth napkins work just as well. Take old scrap paper and use them as note pads so that you are reusing paper. Another thing that one can try is that you can go about and reuse gift bags and even some gift wrap. Some of you can quit buying magazines and get them from the library, but if you do buy them, then recycle them when you are done. A simple thing as taking messages on a dry erase board can make a difference and save you some paper.

Some of us buy way too much things. This is the reason we have junk sales as we refer to them as and more. So, be a smart shopper and buy only those things which you might absolutely need. This can save you a great deal of money.

One can do their part just by not littering. Some families actually have a yard clean up day where they just pick the things up in their yard. For those of you who smoke, throw away your butts and not throw them on the ground. Others of you can try not to throw away everything, but recycle as much as you can.

Last, the fumes you use. Make sure that your car is working properly so it doesn’t let off more fumes than there needs to be. The other thing is that you can try walking to places or riding your bike. This cut down on how much exhaust fumes are emitted. If you are all heading to the same place, then try car pooling. These are just a few of the many things that a person can do to help save Earth.

heater insulationEvery day, people are looking for ways to be eco friendly. There are quite a few ways to do that. One of those ways which we have found is to insulate your water heater tank which has many benefits to it. Here, you can read about why you might like to do that as you go to be eco friendly.

When you go to add insulation, you can find that you not only conserve water, but you also do something else. What is it that you also do when you do this? You also conserve electricity when you do this. The thing you will find is that there are some things which you need to know in advance before you go to do this.

The first thing that you need to look at is the R-value. The only time you don’t want to do this would be if you have a really high R-value. Otherwise, you can find that when you add insulation to when there is a water heater that is warm to the touch, you can get savings in you water heater by four to nine percent. The other thing you will come to find is that you reduce the standby heat loss up to forty five percent.

When you go to add this insulation, you might wonder how hard this is going to be. Well, it has been said that if you have a gas water heater, this is going to be harder than those who have an electric one. You can install it yourself, but it might take you a bit of time. There are plenty of resources where you can find the things to go about and do this. Some people just hire someone to do this. This is just a bit about what you need to know about this that many of you might not have ever considered.

Should You Bother to be Eco Friendly?

planet earth
To be eco friendly, or not to be. That shouldn’t be a question. Make strides to nurture our planet instead of tear it down; that should be a no brainer. This should be an every day mindset and not a second decision to make along the way. Just as we need what the earth has to offer, so the earth needs us to care for it and keep it growing. That is an easy decision.

The earth provides us with everything we need as a growing and evolving species. Everything we have now has come from the combination of the earth and the great minds of the world. To keep those wonderful things we love so much, we have to do our own part to be eco friendly. A prime example is the current situation with cork. After years and years or winemakers using cork stoppers in there bottles, they are finding that there is a huge shortage and in all those years, nothing has been done to alleviate that. So much so that the vineyards are considering switching to twist caps instead of cork. It is all those years of not replacing what was taken that’s caused this.

To be eco friendly requires nothing more than a conscious change in lifestyle, but on a small scale to start. Buying “green” products is a good start. As it stands they do cost more but when that social shift favors these products and the manufacturing process becomes more efficient, the cost of these items will go down, but not without your help. Eating organic foods that don’t have pesticides and herbicides and unnatural fertilizers is another way to not only increase the health of the planet. It is also a great way for you to become healthier.

Your health is directly affected by the world around you. How clean the air is determines how healthy your lungs are. Breathing in toxic fumes floating in the air everyday affects your health directly. And it is only us that can make a difference. Another great way to be eco friendly is by building an eco friendly home. If that is too much of an expense for you then simple changes to your current home can greatly affect the environment around you. Switching to solar power or solar heating are simple ways to give back and reduce costs as well.

It is not just the tree huggers and vegetarians of that world that have the right idea, It needs to be all of us. It really is not that difficult to be eco friendly. You just have to want a better world and a healthier you. That’s all it takes. It is not something that you have to completely change over night. Like most of us, it will be a slow gradual process starting with the chemicals you use and the food you eat. How you transit to work or to the grocery store. Baby steps will make huge changes.
